You’ll Go GaGa Over the Sweet New Celebrity Portraits at Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 18, 2010) – You’ve seen her in bubbles, you’ve seen her without pants but you’ve never seen Lady Gaga quite like this – covered in gumdrops, licorice and M&M’s.

Lady Gaga leads an all-star lineup of new celebrity portraits made entirely from candy commissioned by Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

In these one of a kind works of art, Lady Gaga’s lovely locks are made from yellow licorice. There’s no blue suede on this Elvis – but there are hundreds of blue M&M’s. Michael Jackson thrills in multiple flavors – one portrait captures his essence with M&M’s, while another uses licorice and gumdrops. And our candy Beyonce looks good enough to – well, let’s just says she looks good enough to stare at and admire!

The 40 by 32 inch Lady Gaga is headed to the Hollywood Odditorium,  the 40 by 32 inch Elvis will be heading to the Gatlinburg, Tenn., odditorium, and the 48 by 36 inch Michael Jackson King of Pop portrait will soon be on display at the New York City Times Square Odditorium.   Beyonce and Marilyn Monroe, both 40 by 32 inches, are now on display in the lobby of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium in Orlando.

The portraits were created by Mexico City artist Christiam Ramos, the son of Enrique Ramos who previously has done several pieces for Ripley’s. Picasso may have had his blue period, but Ramos is now experiencing his “sweet” period.  These portraits are 100% candy, and include Gummy Bears, licorice, Fruit by the Foot, M&M’s, after dinner mints and candy hearts.

As Beyonce says, “Put a Ring (pop) on It.”
