Original Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium to host 24 Hour Internet Radio Broadcast Bash

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (April 2, 2010) – For the second straight year a 24-hour marathon internet broadcast will be broadcast from the original Ripley’s Believe It or Not! at Castle Warden in St. Augustine.

One year after landmark event, the unconventional radio show returns to an unconventional museum

At the stroke of midnight Friday April 16, Jeremiah Greer will launch a full day of his internationally renowned Shadows in the Dark Radio show by broadcasting worldwide at www.shadows24.com.  Greer’s show dabbles into mysteries, conspiracies, magical happenings and into the realm of the paranormal. A portion of the show will focus on the haunted history of St. Augustine.

Greer’s guest list this year includes Charlie Carlson, whose recent PBS documentary “Weird Florida” (co-hosted by Charlie’s dog Miss Scarlett) has received rave reviews throughout the state.  Mentalist & Illusionist Slim King and performance artist Karl Miranda and his drum circles will also be on hand.

“This is our second year of doing this and it’s a great deal of fun,” notes Greer. “This year, it will once again be spectacular, fun, freaky, and I guarantee a great time for the whole family who wants to come out and see us live and enjoy in the festivities.”  The event is sponsored by Ed Boudreaux’s Bayou Bar-B-Que and Simply T’s in Sylvia, NC.

Last year’s marathon was also broadcast from Castle Warden, the historic 1880s castle infamous for its various ghosts, with employees and paranormal investigators alike claiming to see and sense numerous spirits inside.  The castle was visited by Robert Ripley himself in the 1940s when it served as the home of Pulitzer Prize winning author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.  It became the first-ever permanent Ripley’s Odditorium in 1950.

At the completion of the 24-hour broadcast, Greer and many of his guests will board the award-winning Ghost Train Adventure at the stroke of midnight April 17 for a ghost tour of the Nation’s Oldest City.  Tickets for this special midnight tour are limited — and are available by clicking here. All of the other events during the broadcast are free to the public.
