Boxer Bernard Hopkins Receives Wax Figure from Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 17, 2012) – World Champion Light Heavyweight boxer Bernard Hopkins unveiled a wax likeness of himself today during his 47th birthday party at the Joe Hand Gym in Philadelphia. The figure was created by the FX Team at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and is the second such figure created.

The first stood sentry during fight week in Los Angeles in October 2011 as Hopkins defended his title in a bout entitled: “Believe It or Not! Hopkins vs. Dawson.” Ripley’s declared Hopkins a real, living Believe It or Not! in spring 2011 when at 46, he became the oldest boxer to ever win a significant world title.

The second statue has been placed in his home, next to his trophy case full of championship belts and trophies. Below is a gallery of photos taken today during the unveiling.  Double click on an image for a high resolution downloadable photo.
