Fertility Statue Miracle Baby to Celebrate First Birthday at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (July 28, 2011) – Rachel Taylor calls her only child Maxwell, a “Miracle Baby,” because she was told she would never be able to conceive.  Then she heard about Ripley’s Famous Fertility Statues, touched them and about a year later, little Maxwell was born.

One Year Old Maxwell

On Sunday, July 31, mother Rachel, father Jon and celebrity son, along with a bevy of other family members and friends will converge on the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum on the boardwalk in Atlantic City for Maxwell’s first birthday party. Believe It or Not!

“We are so excited to be hosting Maxwell’s party,” said Chris Connelly, Ripley’s manager. “I remember her coming to the museum to pay the statues one last visit just before she gave birth.  This has happened to more than 2,000 women around the world who have touched the statues, but this little guy is special to us, because the family lives nearby!”

Among the gifts Connelly and the Ripley family plan to bestow on Maxwell is a life-time pass for Ripley’s Atlantic City.  “The party is going to be held in our lobby and everyone is invited to come and sing happy birthday to Ripley’s Atlantic City miracle baby, Maxwell,” noted Connelly. “Rachel and Maxwell will be available for media interviews and photo opportunities at 2 p.m..”

The Background

While Jon was deployed to Iraq, Rachel and her mother heard of the statues and decided, as a last effort, to visit them. They were at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in the Wisconsin Dells at the time and the two of them flew there, touched the statues, did a little shopping, and came back the next day.  It wasn’t long before Rachel found out she was pregnant.  When the statues tour came through Atlantic City, Rachel came out to show her respect and to show to the world that yes indeed, she was pregnant.

Ripley officials have kept up with the success rate of the two fertility statues, now located at the Believe It or Not! Odditorium in Orlando, Fla., and report that they are away of at least 2,000 pregnancies, many by women who have been told they had no chance to get pregnant.  “No one knows how or why they work, but there are a lot of women out there who are true believers, and that’s all we really need to know,” added Connelly.
