World’s Smallest Production Car Makes Debut at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (April 21, 2010) – Ripley’s Believe It or Not!  will debut the “World’s Smallest Car” on Wednesday April 28, 2010 in the lobby of it’s Atlantic City museum.  Visitors to Ripley’s will be able to see a Peel Trident, a 150 pound miniature automobile that runs on an electric motor and has no carbon emissions.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! adds mini-car to it’s collection of oddities on display at the  Atlantic City boardwalk museum

“We are excited to add such a unique exhibit to our museum,” said Chris Connelly, general manager of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Atlantic City odditorium.  “We plan to display the world’s smallest car in our lobby right next to the world’s largest tire.”

The Peel cars, originally produced in the 1960s, still hold the Guinness World Record for being the smallest car ever mass-produced.  The Trident model, which will be on display at Ripley’s, was introduced in 1965 and was available in a one or two seat version.  “With a clear dome top, it looks more like a spaceship than a car,” said Connelly.

The Peel Trident is the first of many new additions that Ripley’s will reveal for the 2010 summer season.  According to Connelly, there are more than two dozen new exhibits set to be displayed in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  “Our biggest new attraction for the 2010 season will be the addition of ‘The Vault’ Laser Maze Challenge,” he said. “More on that at a later date, because right now, we are very excited about the Peel.”

The unveiling of the Peel Trident will take place at 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday April 28, 2010.  Media are welcome to visit the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum at New York Ave. and the Boardwalk to take pictures or video of the Peel Trident, view a demonstration of the world’s smallest production car, and talk to people about their reaction to the newest exhibit at Ripley’s.
