Ripley Radio Explores the World of Lesser-Known Cryptids; the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest; and Death by Toothache

In the May 15 Episode of Ripley Radio – An On-Demand Oddcast:  While most of us are familiar with the more famous cryptids – the Abominable Snowman, the Loch Ness Monster and  Big Foot, this show on Cryptozoology introduces us to a few of the lesser-known, but equally cool Cryptids that are thought to exist – such as skyfish, the Ohio Grassman and the New Jersey Devil. Deena Budd, author of the Weiser Field Guide to Cryptozoology, is our guest and our educator for this episode.  Also, AOL’s Buck Wolf takes us to the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest where he explains the art of competitive eating and a little about the history of this iconic event; Ripley archivist Edward Meyer tells us that within our archives, there are hairs from an unknown creature that could very well be from the infamous Abominable Snowman; from our “really gross” department we are provided a list of strange things that have been found growing in people’s bodies; and we learn that an early African ruler’s toothache cost 25,000 people in a neighboring province their lives.
