Ripley Sets Path of Expansion for Guinness Museums: Tokyo Now Open
Orlando, Fla. – August 10, 2005 – Ripley Entertainment’s bold new expansion plans for its Guinness World Record Museums may end up setting a world’s record itself – for the most museums opened in a very short time! Having just opened a new Guinness attraction at the Tokyo (Japan) Tower, the company now has its eyes on London, New York City, several cities in India and Macau.
“The interest has never been bigger or the demand greater for a Guinness World Record attraction franchise than it is right now. We have serious negotiations underway that could result in three or four new franchises within the next 18 months. We are rolling,” said Norm Deska, executive vice president of intellectual property for Ripley Entertainment, which owns the worldwide rights to the Guinness World Record attractions.
The Tokyo Tower Guinness World Record Museum opened on Aug. 5, 2005 to great reviews and exceptional business. Opened by the franchisee, United Epic Incorporated, the museum is a state-of-the-art attraction that brings hundreds of world records to life. “We take entertainment to the extreme in these unique museums, through incredible displays, cool interactive games and trivia, themed galleries and video productions,” Deska notes. “Every year, millions of guests are amazed at the outlandish accomplishments from every walk of life we present.”
There are now six Guinness World Record attractions in four countries, all franchised from Orlando-based Ripley Entertainment. In addition to Tokyo, there are successful Guinness attractions in Niagara Falls, Ont. Can., Hollywood, Calif., San Antonio, Texas, and Gatlinburg, Tenn., in the U.S.A., and in Copenhagen, Denmark.
