CALLING ALL JEDI WARRIORS: Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Brings “The Force” to Times Square with Star Wars Extreme Sleepover – February 10

New York, NY (Jan. 18, 2012) – As Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace returns to theatres in 3D this February, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square is offering fans the ultimate “galactic” overnight experience with Ripley’s Times Square’s Star Wars Extreme Sleepover. Taking place on Feb. 10, 2012, the epic space series themed sleepover will include a character meet and greet, Ripley’s Impossible LaseRace™, Yoda mask making, Wookie cookie decorating and more.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by Star Wars costumed characters such as Jedi Warriors and Stormtroopers before exploring 18,000 square feet of astonishing artifacts, exclusive oddities and exciting interactive exhibits. Curiosities from around the globe include the world’s largest display of shrunken heads, an eight-foot tall Transformer statue made completely of used car parts and Ripley’s infamous “Black Hole” experience. During the evening guests will participate in a variety of Star Wars themed activities, games and movie next door. 

“We are delighted to host our first Star Wars themed sleepover that will help benefit the local charity Puppetry Arts…it was a natural fit to put an out-of-this-galaxy twist on our out-of-the-ordinary overnight experience,” said Michael Hirsch, the Odditorium’s President/General Manager. “Fans of the movie are also encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Star Wars character.”

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Star Wars Sleepover includes admission to Ripley’s Odditorium; movie tickets to Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace in 3D; access to Ripley’s Impossible LaseRace™; Yoda mask making, Wookie cookie decorating and puppet making with Puppetry Arts;  meet and greet with Star Wars characters from the 501st Legion’s Empire City Garrison and the Rebel Legion’s Echo Base; pizza dinner, snacks and breakfast at Applebee’s; Ripley’s scavenger hunt; gift bag; and games and prizes awarded throughout the night. All guests need to bring is a sleeping bag, pillow, pajamas, flashlight, and their curiosity. 

Admission to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Star Wars Sleepover is $145 per person.  Available on Friday, February 10, 2012, the Star Wars Sleepover begins at 7pm, ends at 8am the next morning and is suitable for children ages 6 and up.  One adult (over age 21) is required for every four children attending. 

A portion of the proceeds will be given to Puppetry Arts, a Brooklyn based non-profit organization that brings visual and performance arts to youth and families in New York City.
